Online reports are hinting that AMD is gearing up for the launch of a new graphics product called Radeon HD 2900 PRO.

X-bit Labs for example report that European price comparison system Geizhals is listing the GeCube GC-HD2900PRO-VIE3 at a number of German retailers, indicating the SKU exists and is approaching release.

The best information points to an R600 configuration with all shader and sampler units active, but with a 256-bit external memory bus, a GPU clock of 600MHz (Radeon HD 2900 XT is significantly higher), and an 800MHz memory clock for 512MiB of GDDR3.

Performance based on those best guesses would put the HD 2900 PRO in between the HD 2600 XT and HD 2900 XT, as expected.
