New AMD Platform Advances the Windows Vista™ Premium Experience for Mobile Computing

—Notebooks featuring new AMD M690 chipset deliver greater value to businesses and consumers with improved battery life and exceptional graphics performance—

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- March 28, 2007 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the availability of the AMD M690 chipset. Together with AMD Turion™ 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology, the new AMD M690 motherboard GPU technology further advances the mobile computing experience. The new platform enables leading global OEMs to design notebook PCs that provide users with better graphics and connectivity performance, increased energy efficiency for extended battery life and extraordinary overall value.

“With AMD’s graphics engine expertise and our mobile processor leadership, AMD delivers a cohesive mobile platform for commercial and consumer customers that demand the Windows Vista™ Premium experience on the go,” said Phil Eisler, corporate vice president and general manager, AMD Chipset Division. “AMD CPU and GPU technologies work in tandem to deliver increased battery life for mobile workers and consumers who demand a superior graphics and multimedia experience wherever the road takes them.”

To ensure longer battery life, the AMD M690 incorporates innovative memory technology known as Display Cache1, designed to allow the CPU to operate in low-power mode without accessing system memory. This platform-level innovation coupled with the energy efficient processor design of AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology extends battery life by up to 30 minutes over previous AMD mobile technologies.2

The AMD M690 is powered by the ATI Radeon™ X1200 series graphics processor, delivering seamless access to any of the visually rich features found in Windows Vista and strong gaming performance. As the first mobile AMD chipset to support ATI Avivo™ technology and integrated HDMI and DVI connectivity options1, the AMD M690 series provides smooth video playback and vivid images for all multimedia applications, including high-definition content.

Combined with AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology, and a superior wireless connectivity solution from one of the Better by Design program partners1, AMD delivers the ultimate mobile computing experience, optimized for the new demands of Windows Vista.

“HP and AMD have a strong track record of working together to provide innovative mobile solutions,” said Carol Hess-Nickels, director, worldwide business notebook marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. “HP offers exceptional mobile products that address the needs of users and AMD’s M690 is another example of its customer-centric focus.”

Each component of the new AMD mobile platform is designed from the ground up to deliver a superior computing experience, resulting in increased application stability, higher performance, improved visual experience, longer battery life and greater system value than AMD has ever offered before. The new AMD M690 also benefits from the unmatched maturity and reliability of ATI Catalyst™ graphics drivers, optimized to deliver one of the most stable graphics experiences available for Windows Vista, with high performance and broad application support. Notebooks based upon the AMD M690 and AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology will be available in designs from leading computer manufacturers including ASUS, HP and Fujitsu Siemens Computing.
