Terra Soft has finalized version 6.0 of its Yellow Dog Linux distribution for Power platforms (Apple G4/G5; PS3), built upon the Red Hat Enterprise-derived CentOS. Designed to offer turn-key desktop functionality for the average consumer, the upgrade comes a little over a year after the release of the original YDL 5.0, and continues to focus on maximizing the general computing potential of the Playstation 3.

Applications of note will include OpenOffice, FireFox, Gnash (open source Flash player), Fluendo codec installer, Ekiga VoIP, and the Cell SDK v3.0 pre-installed; audio and Sixaxis support will be native features as well. DVD ISO's will begin shipping in two weeks, with public mirror access available in one months time.
