Here we’ll zoom in on the previous images to take a more detailed look at the edge sampling abilities of the various outputs:

KYROII 4X

GeForce 4 4X

Wildcat SuperScene

As we can see the 4X outputs of both KYRO's Supersampling and and GeForce 4's Multisampling show similar abilities when it comes to edge AntiAliasing; in both cases, along with the 100% white and 100% black, both the near horizontal and vertical edges show predominantly one intermediate stage, although there is one pixels worth of another intermediate stage just visible. The Wildcat on the other hand does display many gradients between the 100% black and 100% white, in fact 15 are discernable, which is the maximum that could be occurring for 16X FSAA. However, what's also interesting to note is that both the near horizontal and vertical edges each have 15 gradients which would indicate some kind of intelligent, adaptive sampling to ensure the best sample pattern is used for these edges.

Note: these are gif images and all the gradients may not be discernable due to the 256 colour limitation - if you wish to analyse the images further then I'd recommend downloading the original uncompressed versions; they can be downloaded here.
