Sega Sees Need for PS3 Price Cut

In an interview with Reuters, Masanao Maeda, corporate director of the Sega Corp., voiced concerns over the current pricing strategy of Sony’s next generation console, PlayStation 3: For him “name brand, price and software” are the keys to successful products in the highly competitive console gaming market. Maeda clarified his comments by adding: “Since it's getting difficult to make software availability a differentiating factor, superior marketing and pricing strategy will be the key for Sony“.

Apart from that he also expects that “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games”, a joint effort by Sega and Nintendo, will sell several million units, as it is the first game to combine the mascots of the former rival console makers.
