Sony: PlayStation 3 price drop

Friday 06th July 2007, 12:12:00 AM, written by Stefan Salzl

According to GameDaily BIZ, Sony is going to drop the PlayStation 3 by $100 next week, bringing it to $499 coming next week.

What started as a rumor based on a leaked Circuit City ad has been confirmed to be retail-wide after contacting sources within the channel. The price drop goes into effect on July 12th.

Sony officials have yet to confirm the price drop, but it is expected to be announced during the E3 presentation. We expect that Microsoft will react to this announcement during E3 by dropping prices on its Xbox 360 console.
