At our base IQ setting, for the first two resolution steps, Radeon X1950 XTX matches or betters 8800 GTX. GeForce 8800 GTS, 7900 GTX and 7950 GX2 trade blows initially, with the 7900 GTX falling off at higher resolution, with Radeon X1950 XTX ahead or mathcing them all for the duration of our base IQ test. At the upper end of the resolution steps, GeForce 8800 GTX pulls away from the chasing pack, it's superior specification manifest in the performance results.

General Conclusions

At higher levels of AA and AF, the basic trends are mirrored as performance drops off in each case. AA application is the obvious consumer of performance for all the boards, and Radeon X1950 XTX is 2nd only to 8800 GTX across the board, proving that R580 with a high-bandwidth set of memories still has some rendering chops when compared to NVIDIA's new products.

Call of Duty 2 highlights that software plays as large a part in the overall picture as hardware.
