The performance drop for enabling 8x AF on the X700 XT is actually fairly small, at high resolutions - this may be due to the fact that, under application controlled settings, Doom 3 selectively applies Anisotropic Filtering on only on the textures that id deem as requiring them. The performance drop for 4x FSAA is much larger, standing at around 48% at high resolution, however using both 8x AF and 4x FSAA at the same time only has about a further 2% drop.

The performance impact for 8X AF on the PRO is again fairly small, albeit slightly higher than the XT. The performance hit for FSAA is fairly large standing at a worst case of around 43% at high resolution. The performance hit with both AA and AF is only a little greater than just FSAA. We can see that the PRO doesn't suffer a fill-rate performance drop at high resolution, unlike the XT, thanks to its 256MB of RAM.

Without FSAA the PRO is showing performances that should be acceptable in many resolutions, however you might be thinking again before using 4x FSAA in Doom 3 on the X700 PRO.
