We'll compare both the X700's with the higher end PCI Express X800 XT and lower performance X600 XT to see where these boards are, performance wise, within the PCI Express line around it. We'll also look at a Radeon 9800 PRO on an AGP system to see if the newer X700's are able to best last years high end performance - note that the AGP system is using an Athlon 64 FX-53 which has shown itself to be a little more powerful than the Intel 3.4GHz P4 EE so when the benchmarks are CPU limited they will tend to favour the 9800 PRO.
We are using the recently released Beta 8.07 drivers from ATI for all boards here, with Catalyst Control Center installed. All the options were set to default in Catalyst Control Center, meaning that Catalyst AI was enabled.
