Stock exchanges seem to have eyes only for AMD

InformationWeek has an article on AMD performances on the stock exchange market, following a last week press release from AMD announcing that yet another stock exchange, Borsa Italiana, chose AMD solutions, Opteron processors in this case, for its computational needs.

AMD’s roster in the field is quite impressive, including NYSE, Philadelphia SE, the International Securities Exchange’s SE, London SE, Luxembourg SE and Montréal Exchange.

The reason why AMD products remain popular with this market is “because of their remarkable performance and performance-per-watt characteristics” said Kevin Knox, vice president, Worldwide Commercial Business, AMD.
It seems clear that in this computational heavy field, the best ratio price performance can be much more important to customers than the performances alones.

Also worthy of note, still according to IW, Borsa Italiana plans to upgrade some of its server to Barcelona Quad-Cores as-soon-as the chips are available.
