AMD has released version 7.6 of its Catalyst driver suite, bringing some performance and stability improvements to HD 2900 cards.

Most notable are the improvements in Source engine applications when using HD 2900 cards in a Crossfire setup --the driver notes quote improvements of up to 42% in Half-Life 2: Episode 1 with HDR and antialiasing enabled. However, for those of you using HD 2900 cards in a Crossfire configuration under Windows XP, you'll need a separate hotfix driver (check the release notes for a link). HD 2900 Crossfire is fully functional under Vista. On the Linux front, there is a bevy of stability improvements, although the HD 2900 remains unsupported.

Catalyst 7.6 installers are available for Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP 32-bit, Windows XP 64-bit, Windows Media Center Edition, Linux 32-bit and Linux 64-bit.
