AMD Catalyst 7.1 Released

It's a new month so that means a new Catalyst driver release from AMD. Catalyst release 7.1 includes the expected array of bug fixes, updates to Catalyst Control Center, and performance improvements in some games such as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, which AMD claims runs up to 12% faster on all X1000 cards.

Most notable, however, is a shift in the way the Catalyst drivers handle Crossfire. Prior to today's release the Catalyst drivers defaulted to Split Frame Rendering when Crossfire was enabled. In an apparent attempt to improve Crossfire compatibility with new games, AMD has changed the default Crossfire rendering mode to Alternate Frame Rendering.

Along with the Windows XP release, these drivers are also available for Windows XP 64bit, Windows XP MCE, and Linux 32bit and 64bit versions.
