SiS DX10 IGPs in Q307

HKEPC is reporting
that SiS is planning to release DX10-compliant IGPs as early as Q3 of
this year, slated towards both Intel and AMD motherboards. The graphics
part of the chip will be marketed as the "Mirage 4", but no further
specifications are available. The overall platforms support either both
DDR2 and DDR3 on Intel platforms, or HT3 when coupled with AMD's AM2+
socket. VIA isn't standing still however, as other websites have
already reported that they are expected to trickle down S3's DX10 GPUs
(which have been sampling for a while) into IGPs before Q407.
SiS is currently suffering from a complete lack of Vista Premium compliant chipsets, which is negatively affecting their market share and ASPs. In order to have something ready for that market segment before Q3, the firm is thus expected to unveil the "Mirage 3+" IGP shortly, which is merely an overclocked Mirage 3. Unlike the latter offering, its performance is expected to be within Vista Premium's requirements. On a related note, it looks like we hit the jackpot with our speculation in August 2006 on the Intel IGP market: both VIA and SiS will likely have DX10 parts ready in time to compete against Bearlake G+, and NVIDIA is indeed going to enter the Intel IGP segment.
