AMD's Q1 2007: $611M net loss

AMD today reported a net loss of $611M, primarily due to an operating loss of more than $320M in the Computing Solutions group while former-ATI operations also incurred losses of about $40M. Non-GAAP gross margins were down to 31%, and exceptional charges of $113M further darkened the picture.

A number of websites, including Hexus and Digitimes, are now reporting the details on Intel's Geneseo that were revealed earlier at IDF. Of particular interest is that it will be fully compatible with "existing PCI architecture and infrastructure" and that "booting processes for existing operating systems will also remain unchanged."

Q1 GPU Industry: AMD and NVIDIA market shares are stable.

According to Digitimes, the market share numbers for the GPU industry released by Mercury Research are stable compared to Q4's, with NVIDIA and AMD moving from 29.1% and 24.3% to 29% and 24.1% respectively. Intel, however, managed to capture 38.7% of the market compared to 37.8% in Q4.

Intel has let the press benchmark Penryn and Yorkfield against Kentsfield at IDF, and the results available at Hexus are quite promising to say the least.
